At approximately 5:00 am on Thursday 19 April 2012, an unknown armed man opened fire with a handgun on M.
A.
N, 18, as he was leaving his house, located east of As-Salam street, near the former Khuza’a municipality building, in the east of Khan Younis district.
He sustained a bullet wound in the right foot and was admitted to the Gaza European Hospital, where his injury was described as moderate.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, the victim stated that as he was leaving his home he was surprised to find a man with his head and neck covered by a kufiya, dressed in civilian clothes and holding a pistol, standing about three meters from the entrance to the house.
The masked man approached the victim and shot him, then fled the scene.
The victim’s brothers carried him to the hospital.
Later the police arrived and opened an investigation.
The background to the incident remains unknown.
