At approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, 5 August 2023, security forces arrested several individuals who were taking part in a gathering near al-Trans area, in the center of Jabaliya refugee camp, in the North Gaza District, to demand a solution for the electricity crisis and better living conditions. Among those arrested were journalists Mohammed Abdelrazeq al-Baba, 55, and Bashar Ahmed Taleb, 34. They were detained for 45 minutes in the Jabaliya police center. The journalists were released after their cellphones and cameras were searched. Additionally, security forces prevented lawyer Mohammed al-Bardawil from Al-Dameer Foundation for Human Rights from carrying out his duties at the location of the incidents.
