At approximately 6:30 pm on Saturday 3 August 2011, security force members of Besan Recreational City severely beat three persons.
Al Mezan has identified them as follows:
· Ahmed Naji Zamlat, 15;
· His brother ‘Oda, 21; and
· His cousin Ahmed Fat’hi Zamlat, 18.
The three were beaten while in the city; as a result, all three sustained severe wounds and bruises to the face, head, hands, and other areas.
They received medical treatment at Kamal Odwan Hospital.
‘Oda also received medical treatment at the Shifa and Ophthalmic hospitals due to the severity of his wounds.
In his affidavit to Al Mezan, one of the injured persons stated that the security force members had severely beaten them, one using an iron chain.
The security force members then took the injured persons to the administration building and tried to persuade them not to file a complaint against them.
They did not provide them with first aid, although the three were bleeding.
The affiant added that the security forces prevented them from calling their families for some time.
Once their families arrived, the three injured persons filed a complaint against the security forces at the Sheikh Zayed police station and at then with the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights in order to follow up on their complaints
