8:40pm on Thursday 7 October 2010, the dead body of Mohammed Abdel Karem Ali An-Najjar, 14, was admitted to Kamal Odwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahiya, in the north of the Gaza Strip.
The child died from severe burns.
His grandmother, Miryam Mahmoud An-Najjar, 70, sustained burns in her hands and face.
According to medical sources, her injury was described as moderate and she was referred to the Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
According to Al Mezan's initial field investigations, the grandmother and her grandson were in their house in Block '7' in Jablaia refugee camp in North Gaza district when they were injured.
The police initiated investigation into the incident and detained the child's father for interrogation.
The reasons behind the fire that killed the child are not known yet.
It is not clear whether the fire was as a result of a fault or accident, or was deliberately started.
