11:30pm on Sunday 21 March 2010, a fire erupted in a home cooking gas store in Al Batin As-Sami area in Khan Younis.
The store caught fire because apick-up truck parked outside the store, used for transporting cooking gas canisters, exploded.
As a result, the owner of the store, Atef Muslam Muharib Abu Hatab,48, was severely injured and his legs were amputated as one of the gas canisters fell on his legs while he was trying to put out the fire.
The fire caused material damages to the store.
The civil defense team arrived there and put out the fire.
Police arrived at the scene of the incident and started investigations.
According to an initial police report, there was no evidence that the incident was premeditated or organized
