On Sunday, 7 October 2018, Israeli forces informed the Palestinian Civil Liaison that the permitted fishing zone for farmers in the Gaza Strip would be reduced from nine to six nautical miles from south of Gaza valley to Rafah district. In naval areas north of Gaza valley, the permitted fishing zone would remain at six nautical miles. According to past agreements between the Palestinian Liberation Organization and Israeli, signed in 1993, the permitted fishing zone was set at 20 nautical miles.
