Short Link:
At approximately 8:00 am on Monday, 14 September 2015, around 20 students of the Islamic bloc in Al Quds Open University closed the headquarter of the west Gaza branch. They tied the university’s main door with iron wires as a protest for reducing the value of the siblings’ educational grant. The grant was 50% deduction of the university fees for siblings, but the administration of the university created two new categories of siblings, in which the value of deduction was reduced to 35% and 25%. Students of the Islamic bloc are asking the university to keep the 50% discount ongoing for all students.
According to the university administration, it will provide a full deduction when it is proven for it that siblings student are really in need for the grant. It also stated that its employees went for work the next day but found the main door locked. They opened a side door, and when they entered, the Islamic bloc students attacked them, and injured three. They were carried to Al Shifa hospital. Headquarter of the university is still closed.
