5 May 2012
Short Link:
At approximately 8:30 am on Saturday 5 May 2012, Israeli naval vessels patrolling the Gaza sea opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats off the coast northwest of Al Waha resort, which is located northwest of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza district.
The Palestinian boats were about two and a half nautical miles away from the shore when Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) opened fire at them.
IOF ships then surrounded one of the Palestinian boats and ordered two fishermen on board to take off their clothes and swim to the Israeli vessel, then arrested the two men and confiscated their boat.
Al Mezan has identified the detainees as Mohammed Muhye Ad-Din Omar Baker, 62; and his son Mohammed, 18.
The IOF also confiscated their boat.
They are residents of the Ar-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.
