At approximately 3:40 am on Thursday 27 October 2011, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) attacked a shipping container located on the beach west of Khan Younis. The container was owned by Mohammad Mahmoud Mohammad Abu Shamala, 56, a fisherman from Khan Younis. As a result, the container was damaged and the nets and equipment in it were burned.
