On Firday, 17 October 2008, at around 22:00 Internal Security summoned Dr.
Riyad al-Ilah, Head of Student Affairs, and Dr.
Jabr al-Daour, Deputy of the University President for Academic Affairs, of Al-Azhar University.
Both of them received a note of summon to go to al-Mashtal compound, a Hamas-controlled detention center, on Saturday, 18 October 2008.
Dr.
Jabr al-Daour entered a room for an interview while Dr.
al-Ilah was waiting outside.
At around 14:00 they were released and notified to return the following day.
Dr.
al-Daour was asked about the recent actions and clashes at the University and what happened in the past few days.
Both of them went to al-Mashtal compound once again on Sunday, 19 October 2008.
They sat with the compound's director in presence of a lawyer and a human rights researcher.
It was a friendly conversation that included the clashes that occurred inside the University and the recent development.
They were released one hour later.
