The Ministry of Interior's Internal Security arrested dozens of members and supporters of Fateh and the Shabiba Movement on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of President Arafat.
The Internal Security banned any such commemoration activities from 23:00 on Friday, 7 November 2008, until Monday evening, 10 November 2008.
They claim that the assembly of Fateh members would lead to chaos and incitement against the government in Gaza.
Police arrested nearly 87 persons and later released 83 of them.
Four are still in custody.

The Criminal Investigation Department and the Internal Security sent many summon notes to Fateh members and supporters, who still did not appear before the police or were arrested yet.
However, dozens of them have to check in with the local police station every day.

All of the freed persons were held for hours and signed pledges before they were released.
They pledged not to take part in any act of vandalism, marches or other activities in support of Fateh and that they have to abide by the legitimate government of PM Ismael Haniya and not to be engaged in activities related to factionalism and fanaticism.
