At around 17:30 on Tuesday, 11 November 2008, Gaza police dispersed a gathering of kids and children in al-Awda Buildings, who were carrying a symbolic coffin for President Arafat and candles, commemorating the 4th anniversary of his death. Police also forced those who put on candles on their windows to put them off. Additionally, four kids were arrested: Walid Abu Sneeda, 17, Ahmad Abu el-Jidyan, 17, Muhammad Salameh, 17, and Kamal al-Maqousi, 17. Police released them after detaining them for an hour in Beit Hanoun police station.
