Short Link:
IOF killed one Palestinian, injured two and damaging three cars on April 27th, whilst tightening the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and maintaining the closure of Karni crossing.
At approximately 8.
10am on the same day, Israeli military jets shelled a car on the coastline near Al Zawaida village, injuring the driver and partially damaging his car and another car on the road.
An hour later, Israeli planes fired another missile at two young Palestinians who were walking down the coast; Ahmad Al Masri, 29, sustained body wounds and Wael Nassar, 28 suffering serious injury to the lower body - he was hospitalized in Al Shifa hospital where he later passed away.
At approximately 9.
20am on the same day, a missile was shelled on a white Peugeot which was parked near the first targeted areas.
On the other hand, IOF have intensified the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip embodied in the closure of Karni crossing since January 15th with brief reprieves in which limited passages was permitted.
It is worth noting that Israel has closed Karni crossing at the height of the agricultural season which has already caused severe losses to the Palestinian economy and has negatively affected the status of human rights.
The crossing is the sole economic exit in the Gaza Strip, through which its residents get food, medicine supplies and other goods, and export agricultural crops such as strawberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
Al Mezan Center for Human Rights condemns the ongoing Israeli siege, which will affect Palestinians' access to nutrition and diminish chances for a functioning Palestinian economy; the Centre also condemns extrajudicial killings and random shelling.
Al Mezan finds the silence of the international community unacceptable vis-à-vis the ongoing Israeli offensive on Palestinians.
Thus, Al Mezan calls upon the international community to undertake its legal and ethical duties and to immediately intervene to put an end to IOF war crimes, most notably the economic siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and the killing of Palestinians without judicial proceedings.
Al Mezan believes that the international community should halt Israeli procedures aimed at affecting Palestinian living standards and increasing rates of unemployment and poverty.
It also calls upon the occupying power to abide by international law when dealing with Palestinians in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) as an introductory phase to an end to the occupation.
