Short Link:
Gaza, 10 January 2026 – Israel’s genocide in Gaza escalates as Palestinians face increased attacks on their homes, tents, and community gatherings across multiple areas. In attacks on Thursday evening, 8 January 2026, Israeli forces killed 14 Palestinians and injured 17 others, spreading increased fear and panic among Gaza’s population.
These attacks further reflect the ongoing nature of Israel’s genocide in Gaza, as Israel has continued to deliberately target Palestinians in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement that was reached in October 2025. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 14 Palestinians were killed, and 17 others were injured and admitted to hospitals in Gaza as a result of Israeli airstrikes carried out on Thursday evening. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed since the signing of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement and its entry into force on 11 October 2025 to 439 and those injured to 1,223. Israel has also refused to fully open all border crossings, further obstructing the entry of desperately needed humanitarian aid into Gaza, thereby deepening the humanitarian catastrophe across Gaza.
According to field information, Israeli airstrikes targeted multiple areas across Gaza. The attacks included a strike on a tent belonging to the Al-Farra family on Street Five in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, killing four children; the bombing of a storage facility and a house sheltering displaced persons in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood near the Asqula intersection, killing four Palestinians; an airstrike on a house in Al-Nuseirat Refugee Camp, killing two Palestinians; a strike on a tent sheltering displaced persons in Deir al-Balah, killing one and injuring several people; the bombing of a tent in Jabaliya in northern Gaza; the targeting of a house in Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp; and multiple airstrikes and live fire by quadcopter drones in the Al-Shati area and Khan Younis.
F.S., a resident of Rafah, and displaced in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, told Al Mezan:
"For days, we have been hearing gunfire nearby, especially from quadcopter drones. We used to go into the tents early out of fear that one of us might be shot. Yesterday, Thursday, while we were sitting inside the tent, my niece, Jana, aged nine, was injured by gunfire. She was immediately transferred to Nasser Medical Complex, where she is currently receiving treatment".
In recent days, heavy artillery shelling has continued across multiple areas of Gaza, largely striking land and residential homes outside areas under Israeli military control. Israeli forces have also continued the demolition and destruction of residential blocks and houses within areas where they are deployed behind the "yellow line," particularly in the Al-Zaytoun and Al-Shuja’iya neighborhoods. In addition, several tank incursions were carried out in eastern Al-Bureij, Deir al-Balah, and Bani Suheila areas.
Furthermore, Israeli forces continue to obstruct and prevent the entry of humanitarian aid despite the ceasefire agreement. Field information indicates that Israel has allowed only 23,019 aid trucks to enter Gaza since the agreement, averaging approximately 255 trucks per day. This figure falls far short of actual needs, as UN agencies and international organizations have stated that Gaza requires between 600 and 1,000 aid trucks daily.
In the same context, Israeli forces have suspended the licenses of 37 local and international relief organizations operating in Gaza and the West Bank, including well-established international humanitarian organizations with long records of delivering life-saving assistance. These measures heavily restrict access to humanitarian aid, deepen the suffering of Gaza’s population, and deprive Palestinians of their most basic rights.
The humanitarian crisis is also worsening amid winter conditions and severe flooding, which have caused the collapse of more than 50 previously damaged homes and buildings, resulting in deaths and injuries among displaced people. The most recent incident involved the collapse of a three-story building in Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp in central Gaza due to damage sustained during Israeli bombardment in the course of the genocide, killing two Palestinians. Displaced people living in tents are enduring extreme cold, illness, flooding, and the absence of heating, amid the continued closure of border crossings and the failure to allow the entry of temporary housing units (caravans).
Al Mezan strongly condemns Israel’s widespread attacks on Palestinians as part of its ongoing genocide in Gaza, in violation of fundamental principles of international law and the Genocide convention. These attacks constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law. The continued and deliberate bombardment and obstruction of humanitarian aid demonstrates Israel’s clear intention to breach its internation al obligations and to inflict maximum harm on Palestinians. These extreme and devastating circumstances require a firm and immediate response from the international community, in particular the guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement, to halt these violations and ensure accountability for those responsible.
Accordingly, Al Mezan calls on the international community and the guarantors of the ceasefire agreement to take immediate and effective action to bring an end to Israel’s genocide; to pressure Israel to fully and unconditionally open all border crossings, facilitate the entry of food, aid trucks, medicines, medical supplies, fuel, and other relief materials; to open the Rafah Crossing to allow thousands of wounded and sick individuals to receive treatment abroad and to enable their right to freedom of movement; and to ensure the entry of adequate shelter materials for forcibly displaced persons, as well as winterization items for the population.
