At 4:40pm on Friday, 5 October 2018, Israeli forces used live ammunition, plastic-coated steel bullets, and tear gas canisters on Palestinians joining the Great Return March demonstrations in east Rafah district. 20 demonstrators were injured—of them 13 by live fire, one by shrapnel, two by various wounds, three by tear gas canisters, and 13 suffered from breathing difficulties of tear gas. The casualties included two children who suffered from breathing difficulties.
