At 18:00 on Sunday 3 September 2017, Israeli forces took to detention and interrogation Ramzi Mohammed Abed, 41, while he was crossing Erez. Abed, a resident of Al Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza city and a lecturer at the Islamic University of Gaza, was on his way through Erez to participate in a conference on technological linkages among universities in Italy, yet Israeli authorities detained him and kept him in a prison in Ashkelon.
