Name: Othman Fawzi Abdin.
Date of birth: 7 July 1997
Date of death: 31 July 2014
17-year-old Othman Fawzi Abdin from Rafah was “full of fun and joy,” his mother says. He loved spending time playing football with his neighbors and had a great sense of humor. He was a helpful boy and even during the Israeli military onslaught he would walk over to the poultry farm to feed the family’s chickens.
On Thursday, 31 July 2014, when he was standing in front of his house, Othman was hit by a missile from an Israeli aircraft. Shrapnel tore into his body and he was killed instantly. “He was a brave boy. He used to go feed the chickens three times a day. I can’t believe that he was killed just standing in front of our house,” his mother says.
