Name: Oday Ra'fat Oda Zo'rob
Date of birth: 22 March 2001
Date of death: 1 August 2014
13-year-old Oday from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a calm and obedient child. He used to help his mother all the time. He loved drawing and he could copy any painting. He used to play football with his siblings and the winner used to get a medal. They were happy all the time. “I did not yet know what his ambition in life was,” says his surviving sister.
On 1 August 2014, Israeli warplanes launched a missile at the Zo’rob family’s house, completely destroyed it with Oday and 19 members of his family inside. Oday’s sister woke up to find herself under the rubble. She kept moving, and slowly found her way out. Oday was killed in the attack, along with fifteen members of his family.
