Nine-year-old Mariam from Al Salam neighborhood in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a smart and responsible child. She liked to play with her dolls. She went outside a lot to play with her friends. She liked to watch the Toyor Al Jannah children’s channel and she had memorized its theme songs. “Her last wish was to visit her sister who gave birth recently,” her sister Mervat said. Mervat is 20 years old.
On 9 July 2014, Israeli warplanes launched three missiles near her house. The house was destroyed while its inhabitants were inside. Mariam was killed immediately and seven members of her family were seriously injured.
