Short Link:
Name: Mahmoud Mohamed Naem Okal
Date of birth: 12 April 2005
Date of death: 3 August 2014
Nine-year-old Mahmoud from the Msabeh area of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was the first grandson of his grandparents. Despite his young age, Mahmoud spoke very much like an adult. He liked to help his father cultivate the land. Mahmoud played football a lot and liked to play marbles with his cousins. “He got a new bicycle recently,” his father said.
On 3 August 2014, Mahmoud’s mother was killed in an attack by Israeli forces. His grandmother then decided to take him to his grandfather’s house. On their way, an Israeli fired a missile that directly hit Mahmoud and his grandmother. They were both instantly killed. “His body was scattered around and it took days to collect it,” his father added.
