Khalid from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was an active and energetic child. He liked animals, particularly birds. He was very close to his father. He slept near his mother during the war because he was so scared. “He was so stubborn when it came to choosing his outfits and getting dressed,” his mom says.
On 1 August 2014, Khalid was in his yard along with other members of his family. An Israeli warplane targeted the house without prior warning. Seven people were immediately killed including Khalid. He was two years old.
