Fifteen-year-old Haitham from Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was the eldest son of his parents. He was very brave, responsible and he was a polite boy. He liked to play football. He used to fix malfunctioned computers and mobile phones. His ambition was to study computer engineering at university,” his father said.
On 1 August 2014, the Abdel Wahab family decided to evacuate their house due to intense Israeli bombardment. Haitham’s mother took her children to her father’s house [the Al Shaer family’s house] and his father went to his sister’s house. On Saturday night of 2 August 2014, the Al Shaer family’s house was bombarded with missiles by Israeli warplanes. Nine people were killed, including Haitham. Many others were wounded.
