Twelve-year-old Ezz Al Din from the northern Shokah area in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip was a very smart child. His favorite hobby was riding his bicycle. He was an outstanding student at school. His ambition was to be a teacher in the future. “He was close to me and used to accompany me to the market,” his father Waleed says. Waleed is 49.
On 3 August 2014, Ezz Al Din and his family were in an UNRWA school shelter. The school was targeted by an Israeli warplane without prior warning. Many people were killed on the spot, including Ezz Al Din. Shrapnel entered various parts of his body.
