17-year-old Bilal Suliman Khader Al-Lolahi from Rafah was a kind boy and a good student. He hoped to be a nurse when he grew up. He was a religious boy who performed his daily five prayers at the mosque. He attained high marks at school. Outside of school, he worked in gardening, particularly planting. He hoped to be a nurse. He memorized 27 chapters of the Quran.
On 1 August 2014, Bilal was on his way home from the orchard where he was working when he was targeted by an Israeli warplane. Shrapnel from a missile attack pierced his body and he was instantly killed. After his death, his father met some of Bilal’s friends who told him that Bilal had been a good and kind friend, always willing to help them out with whatever they needed.
