14-year-old Tamer Ahmed Ibrahim Al Najjar, nicknamed ‘Tamrah’, was from Khan Younis and was said to be a responsible boy who helped his mother around the house. He was very close to his brother Ibrahim. He wanted to be a doctor when he grew up.
On 24 July 2014, Tamer and Ibrahim asked their mother to let them go out to play; she begged them to stay indoors but they went out anyway. An Israeli warplane targeted a house opposite their home. Both Tamer and Ibrahim were injured. The boys were rushed to the hospital together. The doctors operated on Tamer and his condition stabilized. But he then suffered a brain hemorrhage and was rushed back to the operating theatre. After the operation he was treated in the intensive care unit, but he died from his injuries. He died on 27 July 2014, just before the Eid holiday. Ibrahim died on 1 August 2014.
