Date of Death: 8th July 2014
11-year-old Qasem Jaber Odwan Kawaree from Khan Younis was sometimes a sad child struggling to come to terms with the divorce of his parents at the time of his birth. He had become very close to one of his teachers who used to try to help him. “He liked sports and played on the school’s football team,” said his father. “He used to work to help us buy food and other needed things,” added his father
On 8 July 2014, when Qasem was at his grandfather’s house, he heard an explosion. He went out to the street to see what had happened; his family, hearing the sound of another explosion, ran out after him. The father could not find his son among the survivors so he went to the morgue and found Qasem there.
