12-year-old Nabil Mahmoud Mohamed El Astal from Khan Younis was an active boy and very close to his sisters. As the youngest in the family, he was also close to his mother, following her around wherever she went. He liked to make kites and hoped to be a school teacher when he grew up.
On 24 July 2014, the El Astal family house was bombarded by Israeli aircraft. As a result, Nabil and his mother, Sanaa, 45, were killed. “I got a phone call telling me to go to the hospital. I was really afraid. Then they told me that my wife and son had been killed and that my son’s body had been cut into pieces,” said his father.
