Five-month-old Mona from Khan Younis was said to represent great happiness for the family who waited a long time for the first grandchild to arrive. “She was very spoilt. Everybody around her was rushing to carry her and to play with her,” said her grandfather.
At 3:30 am on 29 July 2014, her house was targeted by an Israeli warplane, without warning, while the family was sleeping. Mona was killed along with her grandmother, 53; her great grandmother Fawziya, 85; her mother Maysaa, 18, her father, 24; her aunt Aya, 20.
