Eight-year-old Mahmoud from Al Qararah, Khan Younis was an active boy. He liked running and playing. “He used to sleep in my arms and come with me to the mosque to pray,” said his mother. Mahmoud was good at school and his dream was to be a teacher. “When he was younger he was sick but he improved and became a normal boy and good at school. Before he died, he liked to touch my cheeks, and he used to call me by my name, not saying ‘mother’,” added his mother.
On 8 August 2014, “he went with his cousin to buy drinking water because we had run out of it. An Israeli drone targeted them with a missile. Three were killed including Mahmoud,” his mother said.
