Short Link:
Name: Layali Wael Jamil Al Najjar
Date of birth: 2011
Date of death: 29 July 2014
Layali from Al Balad in Khan Younis was a very clever child. Her parents’ separation led to a shifting life for her, where she spent one week with her mother and one week with her father. She give the impression that she was older than her age. She tried locking the doors of the house to prevent her father from going outside during the war. "She was waiting for Eid to wear her new dress, and was dreaming of going to the kindergarten. I’ll never forget them," said her grandmother, who did not stop crying during the interview.
Four families, including the Al Najjar family, were living in the Al Dali building. Without warning the building was bombarded by Israeli warplanes and was completely destroyed. Thirty-five people were killed including Layali at the age of three.
