Yousif Shadi Abu Madi
Date of birth: 4 January 2008
Date of death: 2 August 2014
Six-year-old Yousif from An-Nuseirat refugee camp was an active child who liked to wake up early in the morning. He liked to organize and tidy his home. He liked to go with his grandfather to the market and to help people carry their purchases. Yousif helped his grandfather in the planting and irrigating of crops. He wanted to be a doctor and to treat poor people.
On 2 August 2014, Israeli warplanes attacked the family’s three-story house without prior warning. Thirteen people were killed in the attack, including Yousif. He was eight years old when he died.
“His death left us with emptiness. We really miss him. He was the most merciful among his siblings,” said his father.
