Sixteen-year-old Mohamed from Al Salehat roundabout in Al Maghazi refugee camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip was a distinct, brave, and discreet child. He was very tall with an attractive personality. He loved playing basketball, swimming and jogging. His ambition was to start his own aluminum workshop. “He used to help me in the chores around the house,” said his mother.
On 22 July 2014, Mohamed killed near the border area with Israel. He was in a field when he was directly hit by a missile from an Israeli drone. He was immediately killed. Medical crews could recover his body only after five days. “His little brother said that he wanted to be a basketball player just like his brother Mohamed,” his mother added.
Investigations into the killing of Mohammed indicated that he was politically active and joined a Palestinian faction.
