Date of birth: 8 December 2003
Date of death: 21 July 2014
Ten-year-old Nesmah from the Al Zaitoon neighborhood in Gaza City was killed in her uncle’s house when it was bombarded by Israeli forces. The house was attacked with warplanes without warning while the children and their mothers were preparing food. Nine people were killed including Nesmah.
Nesmah was a happy girl who enjoyed her life. She would comb her hair and put it in many different hairstyles. She hoped to be a hairdresser in the future. She prayed in the mosque with her mother. “One day, on our way back home from the mosque, I said, ‘we have just prayed the funeral prayer,’ and Nesmah responded, ‘when will they pray the funeral prayer for us?’ I was shocked by her response,” her mother said.
