Name: Maram Ahmed Jehad Al Heloo
Date of birth: 27 June 2012
Date of death: 21 July 2014
Two-year-old Maram from Gaza City was a daring child. War did not frighten her. She would run to the windows to watch the bombardments take place. She was very close to her father. He would take her to the supermarket to buy her chocolate and biscuits; she would go to bed with a bag full of sweets. She also liked to play with her toys with other children. “She had a bicycle and she always enjoyed riding it,” said her aunt Sahar (32).
On 21 July 2014, the Israeli shelling intensified against civilian houses in Sheja'eiah. The Al Heloo family could not evacuate to find a safe shelter. Their house was bombarded by Israeli missiles without warning. Eleven people were killed on the spot, including Maram.
