Date of birth: 12 December 1997
Date of death: 1 August 2014
Sixteen-year-old Fayez from Al Zaytoon neighborhood in the southest of Gaza City was his parents’ oldest child. He was not good at school and eventually dropped out to work as a mechanic and to help support his family financially. He was very kind to his mother and siblings. “He was a responsible child and shouldered the responsibility of raising his younger siblings with me,” said his mother.
On 1 August 2014, Fayez and his friend were sitting on the street just outside his house when an Israeli missile targeted a motorcycle that was passing by. Fayez’s father was injured in the attack. Fayez rushed to help him and take him to the hospital; however, before they could reach the hospital, their car was struck by another missile. Fayez was killed instantly. “I was shocked when I heard that Fayez was killed,” said his mother.
