Eleven-year-old Ali from the Al Moghraqa area in the east of Gaza City was his parents’ first child. He was close to his aunt and used to sleep in her room. His family wanted him to finish school, join university, graduate, and get a decent job. He used to take care of his aunt’s sheep and camels. His family struggled financially.
Shrapnel of Israeli missiles hit Ali’s house. His father decided to take Ali and head to an UNRWA school that was being used as shelter, for safety. On their way, an Israeli shell directly targeted them. His father was killed on the spot and Ali sustained serious injuries to the head. He was taken to the hospital and remained there for three days before he died of his wounds. “I miss Ali so much,” said his aunt.
