Fifteen-year-old Mohamed from Beit Hanoun refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip was an obedient and active child. He was an outstanding student at school. He loved playing football and he was an FC Barcelona fan. He was a player in the Beit Hanoun football club. “His ambition was to be a professional football player,” said his father Mohamed, who is 38.
Mohamed and his family relocated to the UNRWA Abu Hussein School in Jabalia seeking shelter. On 30 July 2014, Israeli warplanes directly launched a missile against the school without prior warning. Mohamed was seriously injured and his brother Osama was immediately killed. Mohamed was transferred to many hospitals to get appropriate medical care. Five months later he died of his wounds.
