Eleven-year-old Aya from Jabalia refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip was a sociable child. She used to spread happiness with her playing and laughter. She bought new clothes for the Eid holiday. “Her ambition was to be a teacher. Her hobby was to act as a teacher,” says her mother.
On 29 July 2014, Aya and her family tried to evacuate their house and run to safety. An Israeli shell hit them in front of their house. Aya and her grandmother were killed, and her brother was injured. "We still miss her," her mother added.
