At approximately 5:40 pm on Friday 11 October 2013, medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najar Hospital announced the death of Shadi Mohammed Abu Deeb, 18, who was from Khan Younis. He died when the tunnel he was working in collapsed. Abu Deeb had been workingin a tunnel on the Gaza-Egypt border near Salah Ad-Din gate, in southern Rafah.
