The Palestinian Monetary Authority in Ramallah issued a decision for all banks to go on strike by the close of business on Tuesday 30 March 2010.
The strike is a protest against the Gazan Police which compelled the bank of Palestine to withdraw money from the bank accounts of the Palestinian Patients Friends Association
Following a decision issued by the Palestinian Monetary Authority in July 2009 to freeze the bank accounts of the Palestinian Patients Friends Association, the bank refused to hand the money over to the new board.
The new board won an a decision from a Gazan court to unfreeze the bank accounts of the Association.

12:30pm on Monday 29 March 2010, the new board went to the Bank of Palestine, Gaza Branch, to withdraw a sum money from the bank account of the Association.
The bank refused on the grounds of that the Palestinian Monetary Authority had frozen the account.
The new board asked the police to help them to implement the court decision and to withdraw the money.
The police came and forced the bank administration to hand the money over to the new board.
In protest the bank staff stopped working and stayed inside the bank.
