Short Link:
On 18 January 2007, the IOF set in operation new Erez crossing which normally opens from 7am until 5pm on daily basis except on Saturdays.
Special passengers will be allowed through the crossing, these are: Foreigners, journalists, VIP permit holders, transferred patients to Israeli hospitals, families of detainees allowed via ICRC coordination, Jerusalemites and Arabs residents in Occupied Palestinian Territories in 1948.
It is worth noting that the new crossing is operating since the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip in 2005, and it is adjacent to the old crossing.
The passageway on the Palestinian side remains intact and is directly linked with the new crossing.
