On Friday, 29 August 2008, at around 7:00am, Israeli gunboats, stationed in mid-sea, opened fire on six Palestinian fishing boats opposite to Beit Lahia shore.
It forced the fishermen to approach the gunboats, jump into the water and swim towards a gunboat.
They were forced to tie-up their fishing boats to a gunship.
Then the IOF detained nine fishermen, after handcuffing their hands and undressing and blindfolding them.
It led them to an unidentified destination.
After interrogating them, they were released at around 18:00 on the same day.
They were transferred from Ashdod Seaport to Beit Hanoun Crossing (Erez) on a military bus.
They are Jihad Ahmad Muhammad al-Sultan, 56, Ramadan Ghalib al-Sultan, 33, Nouri Ramadan al-Sultan, 46, Raed Awad al-Sultan, 26, Muhammad Fikri al-Sultan, 30, Abdullatif al-Attar, 48, his son, Muhammad, 25, Muhammad Mussa Sad Allah, 56, and Muhammad Issa Sad Allah, 54.
