To Whom It May Concern:
Please find the enclosed emergency report issued by Al Mezan Center for Human Rights concerning the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories in relation to the intensified and unprecedented attacks by Israeli forces over the past two weeks.
The report details how various actions by the Israeli occupation forces constitute war crimes under a litany of international laws and conventions.
The same report has been sent to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, his personal representative in Palestine, Terje Larsen, UNHCHR Director Mary Robinson, President of the EU Romano Prodi, High Commissioner of the UNRWA Peter Hansen, various NGOs, and to national representatives and diplomats worldwide.
Al Mezan believes that a lack of a punitive response by international bodies at this critical juncture will only be construed by Israel as passive permission for further crimes and the loss of more life and property.
Above all, it would establish a very dire precedent for would-be aggressors world-wide to follow.
Sincerely,
Issam Younis
