Al Mezan Organizes Training Workshop on “Promotion and Protection Mechanisms of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights”

On Monday 15 October 2012, the Al Mezan Center for Human Rights in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Foundation organized a training workshop entitled “Promotion and Protection Mechanisms of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights,” held at Laterna restaurant in Gaza City.
About 31representatives of civil society organizations and community activists attended the workshop.
Mrs.
Shirin Ash-Shobaki, Coordinator of Training and Mass Communication Unit at Al Mezan, opened the workshop by thanking the participants for their attendance and interest in the course.
Mrs.
Ash-Shobakiemphasized the importance of the workshop and its content in order to disseminate human rights’ values and concepts among Palestinians.
She also presented the plan of the workshop and its objectives.
Moreover, Ash-Shobakitalked about Al Mezan’s role in the protection and defense of human rights in the Gaza Strip.
She explainedthe roleof Al Mezan’s units in helping victims of human rights violations.
Mr.
Saber An-Naerabdelivered the first session, an introduction to human rights which mainly tackledthe International Bill of Human Rights.
Judge Zaher As-Saqqa delivered the second session on the right to adequate living standards.
 The workshop is part of a larger program entitled, “Enhancing Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights,” implemented by Al Mezan in cooperation with Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
