Police Summons Two Activists in Rafah City

On Thursday 19 January 2017, the police in Rafah summoned Mohammed Youssif Shukri Abu Taha, 34, on the background of sharing a video on his Facebook page in which he calls people to protest against the electricity crisis. At approximatelloy 1:00 pm on Monday, 16 January 2017, Abu Taha went to the police station after he received a summoning order  from the police criminal investigation department. He also received a threatening phone call to arrest his younger brother, Abdullah, in case he refused to present himself at the police station. He stated that he was released after signing a document committing himself not to incite people against the Electricity Company, not to participate in any protest about the electricity crisis, respect Islamic morals, and not to present in suspicious places. His friend, Ekrema Ibrahim Dieb Metwali, 25, who was also in the video, was summoned.
