At approximately 12:30 pm on Sunday 18 September 2011, medical sources at Abu Yousif An-Najjar Hospital announced the admission of Hussam Ahmed Al Qarra, 29.
Al Qarra sustained burn wounds to his left arm when an explosion at a training site for the AlQassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, took place in the Tal Zu’rub area in western Rafah.
Nasem ‘Ulwan, 37, a civil defense member, also sustained burn wounds as he was putting out the fire.
Medical sources described his injury as moderate.
According to the initial police investigations, an explosion took place at the site, causing a fire to erupt.
