9am on Sunday 25 April 2010, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested a Palestinian patient; 'Aed Rafeq Abdel Jawwad Zyiada, 26, at Erez crossing in the North Gaza District.
Zyiada, like many Palestinian patients, went to Erez to be interviewed by the IOF, as part of the Israeli procedures, to obtain permission to get access to the West Bank and Israeli hospitals.
According to Al Mezan's field investigations, on Saturday 24 April 2010, Zyiada received a phone call from the Palestinian Health Coordination Office telling him that the Israeli intelligence wanted to interview him the next day.

9am on Sunday 25 April 2010, Zyiada arrived at Erez, but he did not return home.

8pm on the same day, Zyiada's father received a phone call telling him that his son 'Aed was detained at Ashkelon prison in Israel.
Zyiada works for the Palestinian police.
On 18 December 2006, he was injured and referred to Soroka Medical Centre in Israel for medical treatment.
He stayed there for ten days.
In August 2007, Zyiada applied to obtain Israeli permission for a medical check- up and he obtained it.
When he arrived at Erez, the IOF interrogated him and ordered him to return to Gaza and he was denied medical access
