On Sunday, 15/6/2008, at approximately 3:30pm, police officers were deployed to An Nusairat refugee camp after gunshots were reported.
Children followed the police officers, throwing stones and shouting at them.
Police left the area and returned thirty minutes later with back-up.

Eyewitnesses reported that the police men dispersed all people gathered in the streets.
Some were assaulted and others fled from the scene.
A number of people took shelter inside the home of 42-year-old Salim Mohammed As Shafi.

Police stormed into his house and arrested five young men who were released after community leaders intervened and negotiated.
In exchange, the five most wanted from As Shafi family were handed over to the police.

This occurred while the family of 37-year-old Wael Mohammed Al Ashram was welcoming his return from the hospital.
He was seriously wounded on 4/6/2008, when a homemade rocket landed accidentally where he works (Al Masouf) of the General Petroleum Corporation in the eastern Gaza City.
