On Saturday, 2 Aug. 2008, at approximately 12:00 pm, police officers broke into the headquarter of Sawt Al Shaab radio station in Gaza city and took over the keys of the headquarter. The police officers were accompanied by a representative of the deposed Ministry of Interior, who informed Dr. Tho Al Faqqar Sweireih, the Chairperson of the Board that the radio station is shut down by a decision from the Ministry of Interior, without any written notification.
