A powerful explosion occurred at around 3:00am on Saturday, 20 September 2008, in a third-floor flat in Zurub Building adjacent to Rafah Municipality's Business Center. The explosion severely damaged the flat and electrical grid. However, there are no injuries reported. The reason behind the explosion is unknown.
